Alfred Ladu to arrive in Juba on Tuesday
April 11, 2016 (ADDIS ABABA) – General Alfred Ladu Gore, Deputy Chairman and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the armed opposition faction of the Sudan Peoples’ Liberation Movement (SPLM-IO) led by First Vice President designate, Riek Machar, will arrive in the South Sudanese national capital, Juba, on Tuesday, 12 April.
Deputy spokesperson of the SPLM-IO’s leader, Colonel Nyarji Jermilili Roman, confirmed on Monday that the second in command in the armed opposition faction will lead to Juba about 60 officials of the movement.
“I would like to inform you that the Deputy Chairman and Commander in Chief of the SPLM/SPLA (In Opposition) General Alfred Ladu Gore and the delegation of the 61 members of the Leadership of the SPLM/SPLA (IO) will be arriving Juba tomorrow April 12, 2016 at 12:30 PM,” Roman announced to the media.
General Gore will fly from the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, to prepare the reception of the SPLM-IO’s top leader, Riek Machar, who is expected to arrive in Juba on 18 April.
The announcement followed an earlier explanation by William Ezekiel, under-secretary of the national committee for information and public relations in the SPLM-IO, who said General Gore’s flight to Juba, initially scheduled for Sunday, was cancelled due to “technical” challenges.
But Roman confirmed the opposition’s deputy chairman will be in Juba on Tuesday.
