The state governor, Philip Aguer said plans have already been laid down ahead of Riek Machar’s expected arrival in the capital, Juba on 18 April.

The series of conferences, he said, seeks to address the differences that may have resulted among neighboring communities during the conflict that erupted in late 2013.

The peace sympsium idea was proposed by Dinka chiefs who recently met the governor.

According to the state governor, such an initiative would allow communities settle and live peacefully in their areas.

“The chiefs recommended that the welcomed the peace agreement and are looking forward to have inter and intra-communal conference with chiefs of Nuer and Murle and Mundari so that they discuss how to be part and parcel of the implementation of the peace agreement and creation of a conducive atmosphere for free movement of people and trade between different communities,” said Aguer.

Security sources have, however, warned about increasing insecurity especially along the road linking Bor to Juba and advised the public to use appropriate transport means.

Unknown gunmen recently fired at a bus carrying 12 passengers, but no one was injured.
