SPLM-N claims shooting down Sudanese chopper in S Kordofan

April 17, 2016 (KHARTOUM) – The Sudan People-Liberation Movement -North (SPLM-N) Sunday has claimed that its fighters shot down a government helicopter in new clashes South Kordofan state.

SPLM-N spokesperson Arnu Ngutulu Lodi said in a statement extended to Sudan tribune that their forces downed an helicopter on Saturday in an attack they carried out on the government troops in Alatmur-Alnugra, in Um Dorain County.

Lodi said they killed over 85 army soldiers and lost four of their combatants.

Also, he said they destroyed and burn down, three tanks, and a number of combat vehicles.

The Sudanese army spokesperson was not reachable for comment.

The fighting between the warring parties continue in the Blue Nile and South Kordofan since last January, as the government forces try to surround the SPLA-N fighters and recapture all the border areas with the neighbouring South Sudan.
