April 23, 2016 (PARIS) – The leader of the Sudanese Congress Party (SCoP), Omer al-Digair Saturday said the action of the opposition forces, after Paris meeting, will be centred on the mobilization of the street in order to bring down the regime of President Omer al-Bashir.

The opposition Sudan Call forces held a meeting in Paris from 18 to 22 April to restructure its activities, reinvigorate themselves and tighten links with the other opposition groups favourable for the popular and peaceful action.

The meeting came after the failure of a meeting facilitated by the African Union mediation with Sudanese government on how to organize the national dialogue. The opposition groups called to include all the Sudan Call groups and to not link the political process with the government sponsored conference inside the country.

Speaking in a meeting held in the French capital on Saturday, al-Digair said the aim of the restructures endorsed by the leaders of the opposition coalition is to lead the opposition action at home and reinvigorate it in order to topple the regime.

He further called on the Sudanese Diaspora to support the mass movement in Sudan, to focus on what unites them and avoid division and fragmentation.

Al-Digair further praised the positive role played by NUP leader Sadiq al-Mahdi in the meeting.

He said the NCF are determined to resolve the internal differences and to clear the atmosphere among its members in preparation for the confrontation of the regime.

The Sudan Call coalition gathers : National Umma Party (NUP), Justice and Equality Movement (JEM), Sudan Liberation Movement of Minni Minnawi (SLM-MM), Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), civil society groups and the National Consensus Forces (NCF) which includes several left parties as the SCoP and the Sudanese Communist Party.

The NCF and civil society groups were excluded by the African Union High Level Implementation Panel (AUHIP) from a meeting last March where it proposed a Roadmap Agreement for the armed groups and the NUP.

The SCoP leader said the AUHIP mediation team has to prove its seriousness to hold an equal and inclusive dialogue and to work for the implementation of the confidence building measures “otherwise there would be no dialogue”
