Paris meeting shows opposition’s insincerity about peace: Sudanese official
April 24, 2016 (KHARTOUM) – Sudanese government said the outcome of the recent opposition meeting in Paris proves how the Sudan Call forces are not serious to achieve peace in Sudan.
During a meeting held in Paris from 18 to 21 April, the Sudan Call groups adopted new structures and said they are preparing for mass mobilization to confront the regime in Khartoum.
Also, following a meeting with the international envoys they reiterated their rejection of a Roadmap Agreement proposed by an African Union mediation body, demanding the government to implement confidence building measures first.
The Sudanese Presidential Assistant, Ibrahim Mahmoud Hamid met on Sunday with the IGAD Representative to Sudan Lissane Yohannes and discussed with him IGAD efforts to support regional and international efforts for peace in Sudan.
Hamid “praised IGAD efforts for peace in Sudan and stressed the lack of seriousness of (…) the “Sudan Call” to achieve peace in the country through their last meeting in Paris,” said a statement issued after the meeting.
The statement further said that meeting discussed the national dialogue and steps implemented to enhance peace in Sudan.
Last Thursday, Hamid received the French Ambassador to Khartoum Bruno Aubert and discussed with him “issue of common interest”, the national dialogue and peace negotiations.
The official news agency SUNA further reported that the meeting discussed peace and security situation in Darfur.
