Darfur referendum results are nothing but foregone conclusion

By Mahmoud A. Suleiman

The News media owned by the ruling regime of the National Congress Party (NCP) are quoted as saying that the people of the Darfur in the region that doomed by civil wars of attrition voted unanimously amounting to 97.7% to maintain the option of the Five States.

Everyone knows for fact that the real purpose of the alleged Administrative is to circumvent the legitimate demands of the people of Darfur in the equitable distribution of wealth, power sharing, sustainable development and aborting the benefits associated with the pivotal issue of Darfur. Moreover, this farcical maneuver by the genocidal regime aimed to circumvent the international resolutions, which amounted to more than 13, issued on the crisis in Darfur. Furthermore, the falsification of the alleged Administrative Referendum began before the ballots. The proof for that evidenced by the forgery of the question presented by the (NCP) affiliated Darfur Referendum Committee (DRC) to the people of Darfur for voting. Instead the question to vote reading: Do you prefer Administrative status of Darfur with Four Levels: Region, Five States, Provinces and Localities or Just keep the Five States? But what was casted for voting was whether the voters wanted to keep the Five States of North, South, West, East and the Central or Otherwise?! This would obviously cause confusion, given the fact that more than 50% of the citizens of the region barely read or write. They are illiterate. There is serious doubt about number of the registered voters from the citizens who the regime of the (NCP) claimed being registered, taking into account the history of the regime in rigging elections. The other important issue was the massive presence of security forces, especially the notorious National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) of the Government of Omer al-Bashir, who undoubtedly caused voter intimidation and harassment. As for the disenfranchised residents of the internally displaced peoples (IDP) living in 114 camps, beggars belief that they succeeded casting their votes willingly. The number of (IDPs) in Darfur region amounts 2.4 million. Furthermore, many wrote repeatedly that the timing of the alleged Administrative Referendum for the Darfur region is inappropriate. The circumstances of the referendum characterized by ongoing wars waged by the Janjaweed militias and mercenaries from neighbouring countries that making it lack of peace. Added to the foregoing, there are outstanding unresolved issues such as the return of the indigenous population to their original lands and homes from which they were forced to flee. The survivors of the genocide did not receive their legal compensation enshrine in the previous so-called peace agreements. Finally, the legitimacy of the alleged Administrative Referendum for Darfur has expired since the era of the Abuja, Nigeria Peace Agreement or the Darfur Peace Agreement in 2006 and since then came the defunct Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD) in the year 2011. Furthermore, there are doubts whether the inhabitants of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camps have been registered to participate voluntarily in the vote on the ballot day, originally! The results of the ballots under dictatorships, especially in the African Continent, are known for their magnitude that exceeds the International Guinness Records. No wonder, if the figures of Omer al-Bashir’s Darfur Administrative Referendum reached 97.7per cent!

Vacuous Slogans Follow as Usual
The main objective of the ruling NCP regime for this pointless falsely labeled Darfur Administrative Referendum is for blurring the identity of the indigenous population of the region and removing their entire component through the terror imposed on them by the genocidal criminal fugitive from international justice Omar Hassan Ahmed Al Bashir who hates the named the Darfur region. The mentality of the successive autocratic military regimes that plagued the homeland of Sudan throughout the modern history after the independence remained the same. The people of Darfur united constitute threat to the survival of the totalitarian regimes and therefore it becomes imperatives to dismantle the Region into pieces. Moreover, the survival of Omar al-Bashir and his entourage on the helm of Sudan needed the change of the demographics of the population and the fragmentation of territorial unit on the skulls of the victims. Lewd immoral dancing accompanied by chanting and cheering religiosity Slogans of ‘God is Great’ haphazardly from the foul mouths of hypocrisy and not from really believed hearts for those logos.

The regime exhausted all its tools
The ruling regime of the NCP has not left any lethal means to inflict more harm to the people of Sudan in the Darfur region but used it during the lean years, 26 years of its rule. Accordingly, there is no need to wait for a catastrophe greater than the genocide to beset them. Therefore, there remains one and no other options for the Sudanese people to avoid the upcoming further deadly predicament but uprising to remove this corrupt killer nightmare characterised by racial prejudice, chanting vacuous religious slogans while living in the midst of the great sin and eating the money stolen from the public purse. The only option left for people of Sudan to enable them breathing air of freedom is ousting the NCP Islamism entity by all available means and throws it into the bottom of the rotten dustbin of history. And to activate that option, Sudanese people need to unite efforts for peaceful civilian uprising matched with armed opposition groups under the umbrella of the Sudan Call without attention to the Wathba dialogue of Omar al-Bashir named Wathba satirically. For the so-called national dialogue, the Sudanese people have already harried it in its tomb at the Friendship Hall in Khartoum!

Leon Acton “Lynn” Westmoreland, the U.S. Representative for Georgia’s 3rd congressional district, serving since 2007. He is a member of the Republican Party has been quoted as saying; (The greatest threat to the constitutional right to vote is voter fraud).
