Gbudue Governor creates 13 new counties
April 27, 2016 (YAMBIO) – The Governor Gbudue, one of South Sudan’s newly-created states has issued an order creating eight new counties on top of the current five.
Patrick Zamoi, in the decree No. 17/2016, created Mopoi, Ri-Yubu, Naandi, Bangazagino, Basukangbi, Sakure, Bangasu, Nzara, Ezo, Tombura, Nagero and Yambio counties.
An official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Sudan Tribune that some communities had demanded that certain payams in their areas be upgraded to county levels.
In October last year, the president of South Sudan, Salva Kiir issued an order to create 28 States in South Sudan and divided the former Western Equatoria state into three states, comprising of Amadi, Maridi and Gbudue with five counties.
Civil servants in greater Western Equatoria State have gone to their new states and government assets, including vehicles divided as their new cabinets are already in place.
