Sudan, Pakistani Zafir Company ink a deal on oil production sharing

KHARTOUM, Aug 26, 2004, Aug 26, 2004 (SUNA) — Agreement on production sharing was signed here Wednesday between Sudan government, the Pakistani Zafir Company and the Sudanese Sudapet Company for Block (11) of oil, which covers the States of North Kordofan, the Northern, Gezira and the White Nile.

The Minister of Energy and Mining, Dr. Awad Ahmed Al-Jaz, signed for Sudan government, Engineer Yousif Mohamed Ahmed signed for Sudapet Company while Badr-Eddin Shan signed for the Pakistani Zafir Company.

Present at the signing ceremony were a number of federal ministers, the Wali of Khartoum State, the Ambassador of Pakistan to Sudan, directors of companies operating in the petroleum field as well as senior officials at the Ministry of Energy and Mining.

Addressing the signing ceremony, Dr. Al-Jaz said that his ministry is keen to explore oil and other resources for the interest of the people of Sudan. He praised the deeply-rooted and distinguished relations between Sudan and Pakistan.

He called on the national and foreign companies to engage in oil production at the remaining oil blocks (10), (12), (13), (14) and (15).

Dr. Al-Jaz announced that inauguration of the Six Star Hotel, which belongs to Pakistani companies operating at the petroleum field in Sudan, will take placed in the coming days in Khartoum.
