Chaired by former Botswana President, Festus Mogae, JMEC is mandated to oversee implementation of South Sudan’s peace deal signed late last year.

The CTSAMM is, on the other hand, responsible for monitoring compliance and reporting directly to the JMEC on the progress of the implementation of the Permanent Ceasefire and Transitional Security Arrangements.

CTSAMM is chaired by Major General Molla Hailemariam from Ethiopia.

The donation, the Germany embassy in a statement, will help JMEC “promote the implementation of the peace agreement and the transitional mechanisms at all levels.”

The donation, noted the statement, will improve JMEC’s capacity to carry out its tasks.”

“The German Cooperation agency GIZ will implement the German contribution and participate as a financial controller in both projects,” it further stressed.
