N. Darfur governor accuses unnamed parties of seeking to destabilize the region
June 27, 2016 (EL-FASHER) – North Darfur governor Abdel-Wahid Youssef has accused unnamed parties of seeking to keep the “insecurity and instability” situation in Darfur, pointing to “hidden hands that prompt the security chaos in all Darfur’s five states not only North Darfur”.
He called upon the residents to support the recent security decrees and immediately notify the official and security authorities of any negative phenomena in order to be tackled in a timely manner.
Meanwhile, unidentified gunmen on Sunday night have shot and killed a 15 years old boy in El-Fasher.
Mohamed Azhari Abu, died of his serious injury on Monday in El-Fasher Hospital.
On Sunday, Commissioner of El-Fasher locality, North Darfur state, al-Tijani Abdallah Salih issued a set of decisions to curb the killing and looting incidents including banning riding of motorcycles and wearing of Kadamool (a turban which covers the face) besides holding arms inside El-Fasher.
Salih’s decisions came just hours after governor Youssef declared a state of maximum readiness among regular forces to control the lawlessness situation in El-Fasher.
On Monday, Salih met with the heads of the Popular Committees in El-Fasher in the presence of the director of the National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) in North Darfur to coordinate efforts to monitor crime dens.
Meanwhile, the director of the government vehicles’ monitoring body Al-Rashid Issa Idris issued a decision banning movement of government vehicles in the evening unless there was permission.
The decision, which was received by Sudan Tribune, pointed that the move aims to protect the government vehicles which are being targeted recently.
It excluded the emergency, electricity and water vehicles besides vehicles of those holding constitutional positions and directors of government units.
The decision also warned that any vehicles that move in the evening without the appropriate permission would be seized.
