The committee which comprised eight members headed by the national health minister, Riek Gai Kok, is expected to launch the investigation on Friday.

“The committee will not leave any stone unturned,” said Kok, leader of the team.

The committee will on Friday in Wau tour all the areas of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) and will soon start the investigation once all the processes have been reached in collaboration with the state governor and all the state authorities, including the organized forces.

“The situation that we have seen is a situation that showed that there is a way that the state security and the state government are really working; there is no doubt that the security of the civilians is now conducive,” he said.

Kok said the committee is going to sit down with the governor and give him the planning of where to start the work.

“If we have agreed, after that we have to start our work responsibly,” he added.

While briefing the committee on the state situation, state governor, Andrea Mayar Anyor, said those who had fled their homes are now returning to the town.

“The situation is good and people are coming, the people are now returning from the villages, those who ran to the villages, for those displaced at the churches, red cross and at the UNMISS, some of them have moved out and some did not move out. This will be the work of the committee, they will visit these places to meet people and after they finish, we will reach a briefing from Dr. Riek Gai, the head of the committee, we will visit these three areas,” Achor told the committee.

Fighting erupted last week in Wau town between government forces and unknown gunmen. Dozens have been killed with some reports putting the figure at 400 dead and thousands more displaced.
