Gogrial governor disowns party secretary
August 30, 2016 (JUBA)- The governor of Gogrial, one South Sudan’s new states, Abraham Gum Makuac has disowned the secretary general of the ruling party in his state.
Makuc Makuc Ngongdit was secretary general of the SPLM in the state before division of Warrap into Tonj, Twic and Gogrial states. He was expected to remain an interim secretary general, but his party officials and state officials claim the former has been ex-communicated from party affairs and the governor was now looking for his successor.
A senior party official told Sudan Tribune on Monday that Makuc had now decided to join a group working to replace the governor after spending several months undecided over which political camp he should join. It is also understood that the secretary general remained silent for a longtime as he hoped for an assignment from the new governor.
“Makuc Makuc has now come to his sense and has now decided to join our group and for this reason, we will work together with the SPLM leadership particularly the national secretariat to ensure that he retains his position until when congresses are conducted”, he said.
