Nine new counties created in Western Lakes states
August 31, 2016 (RUMBEK) – The governor of South Sudan’s Western Lakes state has announced formation of nine new counties after new states were created last year.
The move, officials say, deprives Rumbek East county while giving an upper hand to Rumbek Central county from where the current Governor Abraham Makoi Bol hails.
Rumbek East, the largest county only has one additional county while Wulu county has been split into two following the controversial creation of new states by the president.
The newly-created counties, according to Governor Bol”s latest decree include, are Eastern Bhar Naam county, Rumbek county, Wulu county, Western Bhar Naam county, Malueth county, Malek county, Aloor county, Bhargel county and Amongping county.
