The incident occurred in Kapeota North county.

Kapeota North commissioner, Simon Lodowon said the killer, who allegedly acted under the influence of alcohol, has been arrested.

According to the commissioner, relatives of the deceased burnt down the officer’s house, including those in the neighborhoods out of anger.

“The suspected officer is currently being held at a main prison in Riwoto awaiting investigation and he will be taken for trial as to why he shot at innocent civilian killing two and wounding others,” he said.

Mustafa Lokuru, a director at Kapoeta civil hospital, said authorities in the county informed them about the incident late Sunday.

Three of the patients were reportedly in terrible conditions at the hospital.

“Actually we receive a call at [about] 6:00pm that six people were wounded in Kapoeta North and commissioner for Kapoeta North brought them immediately to the hospital”, explained Lokuru.

Members of the organized forces were sent to calm down the situation, which was out of control, eyewitnesses told Sudan Tribune.

Also, threats from relatives of the deceased who demanded that government hands over to them the killer, created fear among citizens as hundreds of the population reportedly deserted the town.

The fate of the police officer was unclear, with unconfirmed reports saying he could have been killed to appease relatives of those killed.
