Unidentified men seize Red Crescent vehicle, says Sudan news agency
KHARTOUM, Sept 1 (AFP) — Unidentified men seized a vehicle belonging to the Sudanese Red Crescent Scociety near Kutum in northern Darfur, the official Sudan News Agency (SUNA) said Wednesday.
Suna, quoting an unnamed official, said the men briefly held the employees of the Red Crescent travelling in the vehicle, but released them unharmed before taking off with the vehicle.
The officials were on their way to a nearby camp for Internally Displaced Persons to raise enviromental awareness in the area.
SUNA did not blame any side in the conflict in Darfur for the incident.
The government routinely accuses rebels of the Sudan Liberation Movement and the Justice and Equality Movement of abductions and of commandeering public and private vehicles in the region.
