Thuraya and Sudatel jointly establish A telecom company
Sep 3, 2004 (LiquidAfrica) — Thuraya and Sudatel have agreed to establish a new joint stock company in Sudan as a joint venture called “Thuraya-Sudatel”. The new entity will act as Thuraya’s service provider offering Thuraya services in Sudan.
As part of the agreement, signed today at Dubai Press Club, the new company will be responsible for all sales, distribution, marketing and customer support activities. The company will ensure to extend Thuraya services throughout the country, providing, mobile, fixed and rural satellite telephony.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohammad Omran, Chairman of Thuraya said: “This is a significant decision for Thuraya in recognition of Sudan as a priority market.
We are extremely pleased with our partnership with Sudatel, a national telecom operator and a shareholder in Thuraya company that has been gaining a strong reputation for building the country’s telecom infrastructure. Sudatel is a forward-looking company that has shown commitment in utilizing Thuraya satellite network to reach the country’s vast reaches.”
He added by saying: “Thuraya-Sudatel” is confident that it will be able to respond to the requirements for the Sudanese market, becoming an integral partner to Sudatel in bridging the telecom gap.”
Sudatel General Manager, Mr. Abdul Aziz Osman said: ” We have had a positive experience working with Thuraya to date and are pleased to be further strengthening our partnership with them.
Thuraya has been a leader in its field, and we hope to benefit from their pioneering edge. This new company has the right components to ensure its success in helping to build the telecommunications infrastructure in Sudan”.
