Sudanese president attends AU employment summit

albeshir_tete_peti.jpgKHARTOUM, Sudan, Sep 7, 2004 (PANA) — President Omer Hassan el-Bashir of Sudan leaves Khartoum Tuesday for Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso to attend a two-day African Union (AU) summit on employment and poverty reduction opening in the Burkinabe capital Wednesday.

Announcing Bashir’s departure, the national news agency (SUNA) said the summit will discuss an African Declaration on employment and poverty alleviation as well as endorse an action and follow-up mechanism in that regard.

SUNA said the Sudanese delegation to the summit will present a paper on the country’s experience in managing employment and containing poverty.

Bashir’s suite includes minister in charge of the Presidency, Major-Gen. Al-Tayeb Ibrahim Mohammed Khair, Finance and Economy minister Al-Zubair Ahmed Hassan, and the minister of State at the ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr Al-Tigani Salih Fedail.

The country’s delegation to a ministerial conference preceding the summit is led by Labour and Administrative Reform minister Alison Manani Magaya, SUNA indicated.
