SLM statement on the commemoration of March 4, the eighth anniversary of indictment of the war criminals by the International Criminal Court on genocide, ethnic cleansing and war crimes in Darfur

4 March 2009 remains a memorable day for the victims of genocide and ethnic cleansing in Darfur.

4 March 2017 marks the eighth anniversary of this horrible day which is considered a serious step in the direction of justice for the victims of the century crime has been committed by Bashir regime against innocent civilians in Darfur since the outbreak of Darfur revolution in 2003.

The Sudan Liberation Movement considers this day as an important anniversary stands as a Darfur National day on which people in refugees and displaced camps can uprise against the war criminals and call for the penalty they deserve.SLM also remind the international community to carry out its duties upon the crimes committed in Darfur by arresting and extraditing the war criminals to the International Criminal Court.

On this occasion the Sudan Liberation Movement states its position on the followings;
1- The great concern that the Sudan Liberation Movement has put on this memorable day not only because of the importance of the Court decision in favor of the victims but also because of the invaluable value of law and justice to mankind at large .
2- The Sudan Liberation Movement appeals to the Sudanese people to show strong support and solidarity with the victims of genocide and ethnic cleansing any where in Sudan . The movement also calls on the political parties and civil society organisations to organize seminars and speech rallies and present documentary video scenes and evidences on the war crimes in Darfur and expose the crimes against the innocent civilian victims .
3- The Sudan Liberation Movement highly appreciate the position of U.S.A and some European states , including United Kingdom and France in particular for their adherence to the ICC. The Movement also appreciates the position of some African states who restored their membership in the International Criminal Court, particularly Gambia and it also applauds the decision by the South African Court against the withdrawal of the Country from the ICC.
4- The Sudan Liberation Movement hails the role of the domestic and International Civil Societies that kept urging the International Community from time to time so as to cooperate with the ICC.
5- The Movement calls on all Sudanese political parties to focus on issue of justice and make it part of their political program.
The Sudan Liberation Movement pledges to continue struggling and resisting all forms of fascism and seeks to achieve a state of justice and democracy.
