Sudan hails supportive stances of Ethiopia, accuses Eritrea of destabilizing regional security

KHARTOUM, Sep 10, 2004 (SUNA) — President of ‎the Republic Field Marshal Omer Al-‎Bashir and Ethiopian Prime Minister ‎Meles Zenawi have affirmed that they ‎shared identical views on the regional ‎and international issues and their ‎support to the peace negotiations in the ‎Nigerian capital of Abuja and Naivasha, ‎Kenya.‎

20030202_Ethiopian_PM_Zenawi_talks_to_Sudanese_Pdt_El_Bashir_at_Addis_Ababa_airoport.jpgPresident Al-Bashir and Prime Minister ‎Zenawi underscored in a joint press ‎conference at Khartoum Airport Friday at ‎the conclusion of their talks here, which ‎began Thursday night, boosting further ‎the developed relations between the two ‎countries via economic, commercial and ‎political cooperation to serve the ‎interests of the two countries.‎

President Al-Bashir lauded the ‎supportive stances of the Ethiopian ‎government to Sudan in all regional and ‎international forums, pointing out that ‎the visit of the Ethiopian Prime Minister ‎to Sudan came in the context of boosting ‎the distinguished relations between the ‎two countries and the continuous ‎consultations on all issues.‎

President Al-Bsahir said the Sudanese-‎Ethiopian relations are in their best now, ‎specially in the political, economic and ‎commercial fields.‎

Responding to a question by SUNA ‎whether the talks tackled how to deal ‎with the Eritrean regime which support ‎destabilizing the security of the two ‎countries, President Al-Bashir said the ‎Eritrean regime has continued to ‎destabilize security in Sudan and ‎Ethiopia, explaining that the Eritrean ‎regime is now massing its troops on the ‎border with Sudan and strives to open a ‎front in east Sudan as it also horbours ‎opposition elements and refuses to ‎reach a final peace agreement with ‎Ethiopia.‎

He said the Eritrean regime met the ‎support of Sudan and Ethiopia to the ‎Eritrean cause by ingratitude.‎ The Ethiopian Prime Ministerm, on his ‎part, affirmed his country’s support to ‎the peace processes in Abuja and ‎Naivasha.‎ Prime Minister Zenawi pointed out that ‎his talks with President Al-Bashir ‎covered the developed bilateral relations ‎between the two countries in all fields.
