US moves in Vienna, New York shows its double standards

ABU DHABI, Sep 20, 2004 (WAM) — A UAE paper lashed out today at the US double standards policy towards the Middle East, saying Washington’s actions in Vienna and New York over the past two days bore witness of its anti-Arab-Muslim campaign.
“The anti-US sentiment in the Arab and Muslim world is a fruit of its flawed policy and its moves in Vienna against Iran and in New York against Sudan stand as irrefutable proof of that policy,” according to the Arabic daily (Al Bayan).
“In New York, the US used all means of pressure and intimidation to pass a draft resolution in the UN Security Council threatening to impose oil sanctions on Sudan if Khartoum does not stop what its alleged as a genocide,” the paper noted.
“Washington is acting against Sudan while turning a blind eye to Israel’s massacres against the Palestinian people and atrocities of US troops against the Iraqi people,” the paper remarked.
In Vienna, the paper said, the US followed the same line against Iran, pressing the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to issue a resolution calling on Tehran to halt enrichment of uranium and disclose its nuclear programme.
“ustice calls on Washington to take the threats of Israeli nuclear weapons on the same seriousness and press Israel to open its nuclear facilities to international inspection ……..It is high time for the open Israel’s nuclear file in order to prevent a nuclear race in the region,” the paper added.
“Instead of applying fair measures to free the Middle East region from the nuclear weapons so as to win respect of the peoples here, the US exploit the international institution to serve its interests and its double standards towards the region,” the paper said.
By doing so, the paper warned, Washington will reap nothing more than hatred and discontent.
