Sudan govt, SPLM to resume peace talks on october 7
KHARTOUM, Sep 25, 2004 (SUNA) — The First Vice – President, Ali Osman Mohamed Taha, announced that the peace negotiations between the government and Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) will be resumed at Naivasha, Kenya, on October 7th at the level of the First Vice – President and the SPLM leader, Dr. John Garang.
During his meeting Saturday at the Council of Ministers with the visiting Canadian peace envoy, Senator Mobina Jafar, Taha affirmed the government seriousness to achieve peace in south Sudan and to realize security and stability in Darfur.
Meanwhile, Senator Mobina Jafar conveyed to the First Vice – President a verbal message from the Canadian Prime Minister in which he expressed his country’s readiness to cooperate with Sudan government and to boost its efforts to realize stability and security in Darfur region and to achieve peace in the south.
