Malaysia’s PECD wins marine export terminal project in Sudan

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 27 (AFX) — PECD Bhd said its wholly-owned unit Peremba Construction Sdn Bhd secured a 232 mln rgt contract to build the marine export terminal for the Melut Basin Oil Development project in Sudan.

As the main engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) contractor, Peremba Construction will lead a consortium that includes Intec Engineering (SEA) Sdn Bhd and Sudan Piles for Road and Bridges, PECD said in a statement.

The marine export terminal, which will handle the delivery and export of crude oil through a 1,400 km pipeline from the central processing facility located at the field, will have a storage capacity of three mln barrels of oil per day and export capacity of up to two mln barrels.

The terminal will have crude oil storage tanks, fuel and service tanks, a power generator, utilities systems and other facilities, the statement said.

The project is due to for completion in Dec 2005.

PECD is preparing for listing on the main board of Bursa Malaysia.
