Iranian president arrives in Sudan

KHARTOUM, Oct 4, 2004 (Xinhua) — Iranian President Mohammad Khatami arrived here Monday on a three-day visit to promote bilateral tieswith Sudan.
The visit is part of Khatami’s regional tour which has taken him to Algeria and will take him to Oman later.
During his stay here, Khatami will hold talks with his Sudanese counterpart Omar el-Bashir and other Sudanese officials on bilateral relations and economic, cultural and political cooperation.
Sudanese Foreign Minister Mustafa Othman Ismail described Khatami’s visit as historic.
Ismail expected the visit would help promote the Iranian-Sudanese relations and provide chances for the exchange of views onissues of common concern.
