The Speech to Nation on the Occasion Marking the Second Anniversary of The National Salvation Front (NAS)

Fellow Countrymen,
I greet you all in the name of your revolutionary movement, The National Salvation Front – (NAS), and in the name of our beloved country South Sudan. Today, 6th March 2019, marks the second anniversary of an important day in the history of our people, the launch of the people’s movement, your movement, NAS. On behalf of the political, military leadership of NAS and on behalf of each and every member of the movement, I take this opportunity to congratulate you all on this historic day.

I salute NAS martyrs who have made the ultimate sacrifice of defending our oppressed people. They are men and women who offered their lives in defence of Justice, equality and the right to live a life of dignity. Their sacrifices will not be in vain but rather the torch that will guide the people’s revolution in the struggle to achieve the aspirations of the people. We will forever cherish their memories and celebrate their outstanding contributions to the struggle. NAS will always stand by their widows, children, and families while rendering the necessary support We cherish their memories and celebrate their outstanding contributions to the struggle.

I salute the NAS soldiers all over South Sudan who are daily defending the people from attacks by the forces of the oppressive regime in Juba. You have continuously proven to the regime that its attacks on NAS positions and villages under NAS control will not defeat the legitimate resistance of the people.

I take this opportunity to salute the resilient people of South Sudan who are being daily subjected to the brutalities of a regime that has turned on its own people instead of protecting and delivering services to them. To you, our people in the UN Protection of Civilians (POCs) sites, those hiding in the bushes, valleys and mountains; and those in the refugees’ camps in the neighbouring countries and beyond, I say, your liberation is at hand and NAS will never betray your aspiration for liberty and justice.

I congratulate the women, youth and civil society organisations that have been at the forefront of the struggle for the betterment of the lives of our people. We are with them in the same boat seeking the well-being of our people and a brighter future for the generations to come. NAS acknowledges and applauds the fundamental role played by our religious leaders and the faith-based organisations in rendering spiritual support and otherwise to the traumatised and oppressed people of South Sudan.

Lastly, I extend lots of greetings to all the workers, farmers, and low-income government officials who are struck by the economic downturn and are struggling to raise their families as a result of corruption, mismanagement and poor economic policies of the government.

Fellow Countrymen,
Over the past year, NAS has continued to grow, with each passing day, into a formidable national organization. We have expanded our popular base among the grassroots across the country. NAS membership continues to increase rapidly drawing members from all social strata, reflecting the national character and the diversity within the Movement. We are proud that people of all walks of life have joined our ranks and files including women, youths, and people with special needs.

Globally, NAS is represented in all countries hosting the South Sudan Diaspora Today. the Movement have branches in most countries of Europe, the United States, Canada, and Australia and in the African countries. Although far away from home, the women, youth and men of these branches are making great contributions to real1ze the aspirations of our people for justice, equality and dignity.

Fellow Countrymen,
The Movement is committed to achieving a just and sustainable peace in our country. NAS participated constructively in the High-Level Revitalisation Forum (HLRF) of the Agreement on the Resolution of Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (ARCSS) at the end of December 2017 and early January 2018. Our participation was out of a belief that a just peace could be achieved if all opposition groups put the interests of the country before personal, party or tribal interests. We negotiated in good faith, rising above petty politics and focusing more on the bigger picture, which is rescuing our country and our people from the current predicament.

Fellow Countrymen.

Despite not signing the R-ARCSS and facing military attacks, NAS is still committed to achieving a just and sustainable peace in our country. The Movement will tirelessly continue to engage all stakeholders and with the IGAD mediation team to achieve a lasting peace in the country. NAS is of the firm belief that only a peace process that is owned by the parties concerned, and to which the parties feel a strong commitment. has the chance of being implemented it is only when this ownerships translated into action that we will see a lasting peace. Together with other stakeholders in the South Sudan National Democratic Alliance (SSNDA), we are confident that we will deliver a Just and sustainable peace to the people of South Sudan.

NAS calls for the establishment of a Federal system of government in South Sudan at the beginning of a transitional government that it shall be part. Federalism will ensure that power and control is restored to the people to manage their own affairs in their respective areas.

NAS will in the course of the year unveil the National Salvation Party as a political platform to mobilize and unite all the peoples of South Sudan for the complete and final liberation of the country from ethnic chauvinism, sectionalism, and exceptionalism as well as from political, economic, sexist and generational discrimination , oppression and exploitation. In addition, NAS will publish its vision of federalism in South Sudan.

Lastly, as the Chairman and Commander-in-Chief, I assure you that NAS will continue to champion the cause of the people until the aspirations of the people are real1zed Your Movement will always remain steadfast in defending you and your struggle for freedom, justice, equality and dignity in a Federal Republic of South Sudan NAS will work hard to realise an inclusive, collective and sustainable peace in South Sudan.

Thank you , may God bless South Sudan and may the blessings of God be upon you.
