Sudanese FM meets UN envoy

KHARTOUM, Oct 10, 2004 (Xinhua) — Sudanese Foreign Minister Mustafa Othman Ismail held a meeting here Sunday with UN special envoy Jan Pronk.

The two sides discussed the ongoing peace talks between the Sudanese government and the Sudanese People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) in Nairobi, Ismail said in a press statement.

They also discussed the negotiations between the Sudanese government and Darfur’s two rebel groups due to resume on Oct. 21 in Abuja.

Ismail noted that the peace talks in Nairobi are going on, adding that reaching an agreement in Nairobi will facilitate the negotiations in Abuja and the talks between the government and opposition parties in Cairo.
