Sudan, Libya agree to coordinate on regional issues
April 21, 201 (KHARTOUM) – Sudan and Libya pledged to cooperate together to maintain regional stability, according to statements issued in Khartoum and Tripoli following on Wednesday.
Mohammed al-Menfi, head of the three-member Libyan presidency council discussed by telephone bilateral relations with Abdel Fattah al-Burhan the head of the Transitional Sovereign Council of Sudan.
“The two leaders discussed various regional issues of common interest and agreed to strengthen bilateral and regional cooperation with the aim of maintaining peace and security in the region,” said the media office of the Libyan presidency council.
The statement further stressed that they agreed to continue “communication and coordination at the highest level on the situation in Chad”.
In Khartoum, the Sovereign Council added they agreed to exchange of visits at the presidential level and between officials in both countries.
Al-Menfi, a former diplomat from Benghazi, was chosen to head a three-man presidency council last February.
