SRF delegation joins peace talks with SPLM-N al-Hilu

June 1, 2021 (KHARTOUM) – The Sudanese Revolutionary Front (SRF) Tuesday announced that its representatives were heading to Juba to join the government negotiating delegation with the SPLM-al-Hilu.

In a statement on Tuesday, the SRF official spokesman, Osama Saeed, said that the delegation consisted of six members.

Also, he mentioned a meeting held at the Presidency between the Chairman of the Sovereign Council, Abdel-Fattah al-Burhan, and the SRF members in the collegial presidency, in which they affirmed their full support for the ongoing negotiations in Juba.

On May 26, the SRF stressed that the government’s negotiating position should be aligned with the Juba Peace Agreement and the Transitional Constitutional Document.

The alliance of the former rebel groups also announced the formation of a monitoring and evaluation mechanism to assess the course of the negotiating process with the SPLM-N al-Hilu.

The SRF had to travel with the government delegation to Juba on 25 May but the six groups had not selected their representatives yet.

It is wors noting that the SPLM-N Agar did not dispatch a representative within the SRF delegation.

On Monday, the government delegation handed over its response to the SPLM-N position on the framework agreement. Talks would resume on Wednesday.

The talks were launched on 26 May 2021. This first round of talks is expected to conclude within a week.
