Sudan applauds Bush’s reelection
KHARTOUM, Sudan, Nov 4, 2004 (UPI) — Sudan congratulated U.S. President George W. Bush on his re-election and voiced hopes he would help achieve peace in Sudan in his second term.
Foreign Minister Mustafa Ismail was quoted by the official Sudan News Agency as saying Thursday, “My government congratulates President Bush for his victory and hopes his administration will deal with Sudan with transparency and establish constructive bilateral relations.”
He also expressed the hope that the new U.S. administration under Bush would adopt policies that boost international peace and security and contribute positively to achieving peace and stability in Sudan.
“The U.S. is an important country and President Bush’s administration had in the past several positive interventions in Sudanese matters which helped move forward the peace process in southern Sudan,” Ismail added.
