Jordan to extend more aid to Sudan’s war-torn Darfur region
KHARTOUM, Nov 6, 2004 (SUNA) — Foreign Minister Mustafa Osman Ismail Saturday met here with the visiting special envoy of HM Jordanian King Abdalla II, Prince Rashid bin Al-Hassan bin Tilal.
In a press statement, Prince Rashid said that their talks were focused on the possibility of extending more assistance to Darfur from the Jordanian government and charity organizations.
He indicated that they also deliberated about the possibility of rehabilitating and expanding the hospital of Kas town in South Darfur State.
The Jordanian Prince said that he visited Darfur to get acquainted with the government efforts toward normalizing the situation in Darfur.
He expressed optimism that the conditions in Darfur will improve in the coming period.
Prince Rashid said that the Jordanian humanitarian aid for Darfur included food materials and medicines, adding the Jordan will continue to send humanitarian aid to Sudan.
