Call for no flying zone in Darfur unacceptable : Sudanese minister
OMDURMAN, Nov 8, 2004 (Sudanese Radio) — The minister of aviation, Mr Ali Tamim Fartak, has said the government has rejected imposition of a no flying zone in the Darfur States, saying that such step would harm the citizens and the displaced people.
At a press conference he held in his office, the minister said those calling for imposition of a no flying zone want the war to continue in Darfur.
Fartak further said the war in the south, which continued for four decades, had not witnessed such a call. He said the call for a no flying zone was subjective and unacceptable.
