Sudan expects peace promotion from Nairobi session

KHARTOUM, Nov 17, 2004 (Xinhua) — Sudanese Foreign Minister Mustafa Othman Ismail expressed here Wednesday his government’s hope that the UN Security Council session due to be held in Nairobi Thursday would push forward the peace process in Sudan.

M_Ismail.jpgIn a press statement, Ismail expected that the session would come out with stances supporting Khartoum’s “serious endeavour” toward a comprehensive peace in Sudan.

He said Sudan’s First Vice President Ali Osman Taha would lead the Sudanese delegation to the session and Taha would address the council at a closed session.

Ismail also called on the international community to fulfill their financial and logistic commitments for the success of the African Union mission in Darfur.
