Egypt welcomes signing of memo of understanding between Sudan, SPLM
KHARTOUM, Nov 19, 2004 (SUNA/ MENA) — Egypt has welcomed the signing by the government and Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) on the sidelines of the UN Security Council session in Nairobi Friday of a memo of understanding affirming the two parties’ determination to conclude a peace agreement before the end of the current year.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abugheit said in a press statement the memo of understanding affirmed the determination of the two parties to realize a comprehensive peace that would end the suffering of the Sudanese citizens and contribute to realizing stability all over the country.
He affirmed Egypt continued support to Sudan.
