Sudanese FM slams EU over “biased stances against his country”
KHARTOUM, Nov 26, 2004 (MENA) — Sudanese Foreign Minister Mustafa Osman Ismail criticized the European Union’s biased stances against his country, accusing the EU of omitting Khartoum’s cooperation with the international community.
In statements aired by Al-Arabiya, Ismail said international human rights observers and an international fact-finding committee are working in close cooperation with the Sudanese government along with the African Union’s mission.
“We have also received more than 20 ministers who visited Darfur,” he said.
Even western media are in Darfur to say whatever “lies” they want, but the Europeans always want to distort the truth, he added.
He challenged the EU, which submitted a draft resolution to the UN General Assembly condemning what it termed as violations of human rights in Sudan, to file a similar report on the events that occurred in the Iraqi city of Fallujah, Abu Ghuraib prison or the US detention camp of Guantanamo.
