Mauritanians join African observers in Sudan’s Darfur

Ould_Bellal.jpgNOUAKCHOTT, Mauritania, Dec 7, 2004 (PANA) — About 30 Mauritanian soldiers,
policemen and civilians will be sent to Darfur, western Sudan as
part of the African Union (AU) observer mission there, military
sources told PANA here Monday.

The group includes four commanders, six captains, about
fifteen policemen and six civilians, they said.

Last October, Foreign and Cooperation Minister Mohamed Vall Ould
Bellal announced that Mauritania would send observers to Darfur.
