Sudan accuses Israel of providing support to Darfur rebels
KHARTOUM, Dec 19, 2004 (Xinhua) — Sudanese Minister of Humanitarian Affairs Ibrahim Mahmoud Hamid Sunday accused Israel of providing Darfur rebels with “moral and material support”.
“The material and moral support Israel provides to the Darfur rebels uncovers the size of the external conspiracy for realizing particular agenda in the region,” said Hamid in a press statement.
He stressed “Israel’s extension in such amount of arms to the Darfur rebels must have particular hidden agenda that started to reveal.”
The minister called on all concerned sides and countries who have the desire to offer humanitarian aids to the Darfur people to follow the official and legal procedures in this issue.
He pointed to the rebels’ repeated violations against the aids caravans, citing the recent killing of two workers of British Save the Children organization as an evidence.
