Somalia president Abdullahi starts visit to Sudan

Abdullahi_Yusuf_Ahmed.jpgKHARTOUM, Dec 26, 2004 — The President of the Somali transitional government Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed arrived in Khartoum on Saturday evening on a working visit to Sudan.

He was received by his Sudanese counterpart Omar Al-Beshir.

According to the official Sudan New Agency (SUNA) the Somali president will attend the tripartite meeting between Yemeni president Ali Abdullah Salih, the Ethiopian prime minister Meles Zinawi and the Sudanese president.

The conference, which is due to start on 27 December, will discuss the issue of Somalia.

The president in Sudan will attend a conference on Somalia, which Arab League member countries, IGAD and African Union member countries will attend, the Somali newspaper Qaran said yesterday.

Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa will start a two-day official visit to Sudan on Sunday, to attend an extra-ordinary meeting of Arab Industry Ministers Council to kick off on Monday.
