CNPC’s oil production in Sudan exceeded 16mn tons

BEIJING, Jan 11, 2005 (SinoCast) — The oil production of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) in Sudan, a main overseasoil production base of the company, exceeded 16 million tons in2004, creating a historic peak, news released from CNPC said on December 5.

CNPC has three projects in Sudan, including zone 1/2/4, zone 3/7, and zone 6, with the total oil production of over 16 million tons in 2004. The oil products in 1/2/4 zone amounted to 15.74 million tons, increasing by 1.57 million tons year on year.

CNPC also found many new oil sources in the oil fields, and thegeological reserves newly found in 2004 reached 1.38 billion barrels.

CNPC is building an oilfield with the annual oil production of 10 million tons, and it is expected to put into production in the first half of 2005. The crude oil import volume of China will increase by 10 million tons by then.

The annual oil production of the zone 4 is expected to reach 1 million tons in 2006.
