Ethiopian ruling party, opposition debated on political programs
MEKELLE, Ethiopia, Jan 23, 2005 (ENA) — The Ruling party, the Ethiopian Peoples Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) and two opposition parties held a debate here on Sunday.
EPRDF and All Ethiopian Unity Party (AEUP), the Ethiopian Peoples Democratic Party (EPDP)-Medhin have introduced their political programs to the public.
(AEUP) Representative Berehet and (EPDP)-Medhin Berhan Embiz said theier parties wiorking together to win the forthcoming national elections.
They said members of EPRDF were forcing the people to elect its members in the previous two elections.
They also some of the proposals forwarded to amend the electoral law were accepted, which they said, an improvement.
EPRDF Representative Ambassador Tewolde-Gebru said on his part that members of do not have any intention of imposing EPRDF’s program on opposition parties other than introducing it to the public
He said efforts have been launched more than ever before to make this year’s election free and democratic.
The debate was organized by Nile College and Mekelle University.
