Russia pledges peacekeeping troops for Sudan
MOSCOW, Jan 25 (AFP) — Russia vowed Tuesday to send peacekeepers to Sudan after the war-ravaged nation signed a deal ending one of Africa’s longest-running civil wars.
The promise came during telephone talks between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, ITAR-TASS news agency reported.
It was not clear how many troops Russia would commit to the international mission.
