Sudan peace talks postponed for seven days, says minister

Khartoum, July 20, 2003 (dpa) — Sudanese peace talks scheduled by the regional Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) have been postponed for a week, Sudanese Foreign Minister Mustafa Osman Ismael announced Sunday.

In a statement to the press, Ismael said talks between the government and Sudan People’s Liberation Army rebels had been rescheduled for July 30, 2003, to give the two parties enough time to prepare.

The IGAD Secretariat had originally proposed July 23 as the date to resume the stalled talks
