Black box of crashed plane found in Khartoum, six Ukranian crew killed
KHARTOUM, Sudan, Feb 4, 2005 (AP) — Authorities have recovered the black box of the Sudanese cargo plane that crashed outside this city, killing its crew of seven, Sudanese media reported Friday.

The independent newspaper Al-Rai al-Amm said the black box of the Ilyushin IL-76 would be sent abroad for expert analysis of the cockpit data to try to shed light on the cause of Thursday morning’s crash 25 kilometers east of Khartoum. State television and radio also reported the box had been found.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said the killed crew members were all Ukrainians.
Sudan ‘s interior minister, Gen. Abdul Raheem Mohamed Hussein, was quoted by the newspaper as saying the plane, owned by the private company Air West, was carrying relief aid from Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates to Nyala in south Darfur. Among the cargo items scattered across the crash site were blankets and clothes.
