Sudanese govt, opposition alliance meeting in Cairo postponed
CAIRO, Feb 4, 2005 (MENA) — The meeting of a technical committee, formed by the Khartoum government and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Sudan to settle outstanding issues, was indefinitely put off, the Sudanese charge d’Affairs told MENA.
Mohamed Abdallah attributed the postponement of the meeting, which was due in Cairo on Saturday 5 February, to pre-engagement of the NDA leaders still meeting in Asmara for one week now.
The committee was formed to address the main standing issues of the status of the NDA forces in eastern Sudan. The two sides agreed in principal to settle the remaining issues.
