Sudanese opposition NDA says member’s unity stronger than ever
ASMARA, Feb 3, 2005 (ERINA) — The Sudanese opposition umbrella, National Democratic Alliance (NDA), disclosed that the unity and resolve of its parties and organizations is stronger than ever.
In a panel discussion today on the Eritrean National Television, ERI-TV, heads of the member parties and organizations of the NDA rejected the false information saying that there exist differences among NDA constituent members.
The NDA officials noted that the Alliance is struggling in unity to bring about freedom and democracy in Sudan as well as fair and equitable distribution of the country’s resources. The panel discussion was hosted before the expected meeting of the NDA to be held soon in Asmara.
Condemning the killings and brutal crashing by the government of Sudan against the Sudanese protesters in Port Sudan recently, the leading members of the NDA indicated that the actions taken by the Khartoum regime clearly demonstrate the negative attitude of the Sudanese government towards opposition forces.
NDA’s official Spokesman, Hatim Alsir, said that peaceful anti-government demonstrations which are conducted inside Sudan are one of the tactics used by the National Democratic Alliance in its struggle to bring about democracy and justice in the country, and added that “any Sudanese citizen who expresses his/her opposition through peaceful demonstration should not be brutalized.”
During the ERI-TV panel discussion, the representatives of Beja Congress and the Free Lions Movement on their part said that the measures taken against the civilian population in the recent demonstrations in Port Sudan were downright criminal and inhuman and they “need to be investigated and those who committed the action should take the responsibility and be brought to justice.”
