Sudan asserts support for Int’l efforts for combating terro

RIYADH, Feb 6, 2005 (KUNA) — Chief of Sudanese Intelligence Major General Salah Abdallah Mohamed asserted Sunday Sudan’s full support and cooperation with the international efforts to combat terror.

On sidelines of the Counter terrorism International Conference running here today, Mohamed told KUNA that Sudan transformed cooperation in the field of combating terror into action by executing a number of bilateral security agreements and being committed to collective agreements.

The official noted that Sudan handed Saudi Arabia names of a number of wanted individuals for involvements in terror activities, in addition to continuing the exchange of information and coordination between the two countries in this field.

Mohamed called for defining terrorism to differentiate between terror and public resistance for freedom, considering the conference a chance to clear the misunderstandings about terror and vise unified mechanisms to confront it.

The official praised the Saudi leading role in combating terror and its continuous efforts at all regional and international levels to adopt a mechanism to address roots of terror.

Mohamed also touched on the Saudi initiative to establish an international center for combating terror that aims at exchanging information to prevent terror acts.
