Sudanese National Democratic Alliance meets in Eritrea
ASMARA, Feb 7, 2005 (Eritrean radio) — National Democratic Alliance (NDA) of Sudan this afternoon held its meeting at the National Media Hall in Asmara this afternoon in the presence of diplomats and other invited guests.
In a speech delivered by chairman of the NDA, Mohamed Osman al-Mirghani participants were Briefed on the efforts being made to bring about peace and stability in Sudan and mentioned all the points which have not yet been agreed upon to date.
Al-Mirghani said it is the right of any political party under the umbrella of the NDA to have direct contact with the government of Sudan provided the discussions are carried out with the knowledge of the umbrella organization, NDA.
On the issue of Eritrea-Sudan relationship, Al- Mirghani said the relationship between the two countries is unique and historical and that NDA in principle rejects any act of intimidation against Eritrea.
Turning to the recent killing of innocent civilians in Port Sudan, the NDA strongly condemned the act and called for the setting up of an independent inquiry and investigation into the incident.
Finally, Al-Mirghani said the NDA will hold its 3rd congress in Asmara following the Sudan peace agreement to be signed in Cairo.
