Norway to send 30 officers to join UN security force in Sudan
STOCKHOLM, Feb 14, 2005 (Xinhua) — Norway will supply 30 officers to the UN security force in Southern Sudan, Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) reported on Monday.
The 10,000-strong UN force will provide security in the regionand assist in returning thousands or refugees to their homes, as well as in the rebuilding of the country.
The Norwegian contingent will consist of staff officers, observers and a medical unit, said Defence Department spokesman Rolf Kjos.
Minister of International Development, Hilde Frafjord Johnson, will on Monday begin a two-day visit to the Sudan, to discuss the implementation of the newly signed peace agreement
