20 arrested after Khartoum student protesters burn university building
KHARTOUM, Aug 3 (AFP) — Twenty students were arrested after a group of demonstrators at Sudan University torched a university building here Sunday demanding their diploma studies be upgraded to a degree, police said.
The engineering students burnt the ground and first floors used for administration and a computer hall, as well as a pick-up truck parked inside the campus, the police said in a statement sent to AFP.
It said civil defence services extinguished the fire, while police arrested 20 students for involvement in the riot.
