Sudan: Rebel SPLM, opposition NDA to meet in eastern region on 5 August

KHARTOUM — Joint meeting between a delegation of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) and a seven-member committee of the opposition National Democratic Alliance (NDA) starts tomorrow, in areas under the control of the NDA in eastern Sudan. The meeting aims to come up with opinions towards the peace process.
A prominent leader of the SPLM, Pagan Amum, told Al-Sahafa that the meeting, which will last for two days, will deal with the development of the peace process in the aftermath of the government’s delegation rejecting the Nakuru – Rift Valley Province, Kenya – document and joint decision by both sides will be taken.
Amum added that deliberations will touch on IGAD (Inter Governmental Authority on Development) proposals concerning the participation of NDA in a transitional government and elections besides other issues.
