Top UNHCR official slates visit to Sudan, Chad
PARIS, France, Mar 16, 2005 (PANA) — Wendy Chamberlin, interim high commissioner of the UN refugee agency (UNHCR), will visit Chad and Sudan starting this weekend to take stock of the agency’s field.
Based on security considerations, Chamberlin would visit
Khartoum, the Sudanese capital, 20 March and then El Geneina in the western Darfur region the following day, said release issued Tuesday.
Chamberlin will also visit the Chadian town of Abeche, home to some 200,000 Sudanese refugees who fled the conflict in Darfur, before winding up the mission in N’djamena, the Chadian capital.
