Security service discovers hiding residence of Sudanese communist leader
KHARTOUM, April 7, 2005 (Sudan Tribune) — Sudanese security service discovered the cache of the leader of the Sudanese Communist Party Mohamed Ibrahim Nougud in Khartoum, but does not arrest him Sudan Tribune learnt.
Contrary to information published earlier, the chief of the Sudanese Security Service Salah Abdullah came to the house where Nougud was and informed him of the presidential amnesty. He further invited him to participate publicly the political live in the country.
Sources said Nougud was surprised by the existence of security service in the area and the sudden visit of the Security chief.
Nougud was in clandestine residence in side the Sudan since the Islamist coup d’Etat of June 1989.
It seems that Sudanese authorities meant to explain to him that they know where he is, and can detain him if they want to.
The question of the participation of the Sudanese Communist Party in the political live was debated in the party, and Nougud had to appear within this context.
